Periodontal disease is s progressive degenerative disease of the supporting tissue of the teeth which results in dangling, shifting and teeth loss in the final stage. Today it is increasingly present with very young people and the limit of the appearance of first symptoms declined from the early thirties to late twenties. According to the latest research, tooth loss in 50% of the cases is caused by periodontal disease and the other half is caused by cavities.
Periodontal disease cannot be cured but only slowed down at a certain stage. Therefore, prevention is the most important thing and that means removal of the soft and hard plaque, regular brushing and visits to the dentist every six months and in the end, if it is necessary, surgical treatment.
